This box was created to commemorate the graduation of an individual from medical school. The caduceus was the central focus of the design on the top of the box for obvious reasons. The individual's parents chose to have a Fleur de lis carved in each corner of the lid. This pattern was selected because its' French roots reflected their heritage and also since it is symbolic of the Tulane University ambience.
The underside of the lid has a carved inscription written by his parents. The words of that inscription clearly demonstrate the pride they feel about his success to this point in time and their hopes for his future.
On the front panel of the box is carved his name along with his newly acquired MD credential.
