Custom Chip Carved Clocks

Here are four examples of clocks I’ve carved in the past. If you click on the 1st picture of the Mantel Clock you will see in the enlargement that the words “FESTINA LENTE” are carved around the face of the clock just outside of the numbers of the dial. It is Latin phrase that means “make haste slowly” (or “don’t hurry”) and the letters were sometimes used in place of numbers on a dial in times gone by.

The clock with the Lions Head also incorporates the phrase FESTINA LENTE around the dial. If you study the lion’s mane starting at the top of his head you’ll see that is composed only of the letters that spell out LIONS GATE - which is the name of the community where I reside in Pennsylvania. Also, if you click on the picture of the bottom of this clock you’ll see carved a phrase I really try to live by: “If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?”

The clock at the bottom of the page is a 14” diameter plate carved with the image of the AA recovery symbol. The clock face is placed in the portion of the symbol normally used to inscribe the number of years of sobriety attained by the recipient. The individuals name is carved in script at the bottom of the plate (purposely obliterated in this case to protect identity) so that he could display it in his residence with the pride it so deserves!
